Residents of Ede, Ejigbo, and Iwo have commended the administration of Senator Ademola Adeleke for setting up the taskforce on petroleum scarcity, which has forced petroleum marketers hoarding the product to sell the products.
They equally appreciated the taskforce for compelling petrol marketers who were selling above 1000 per litre to reduce the price so as to ease the financial distress that the people are going through.
These were the words of residents who were seen on queues at different filling stations struggling to buy fuel.
The taskforce team, which raided stations in Ede, compelled management of Musat petroleum, Oke Iresi Ede, to start dispensing the products, having confirmed that they had about 800 litres stocked in their tank.
After inspecting filling stations in Ede, the team moved to Ejigbo enroute Ara. Majority of filling stations were out of stock while few ones that have premium motor spirits were selling at ₦1000 per litre.
In Iwo, JimRis petroleum station was compelled to open its gate and start selling the hundreds of litres of petrol stocked in its tank. It started at ₦980 per litre.
At Iso Pákó, Alaja Multi concept filling Stations was selling at 1050 per litre, but the Taskforce appealed to the manager to review the price down to 1000 per litre which he complied.
A Nurudeen Petrol Odo Ori, the Taskforce, ensured that the station started dispensing product at the rate of 900 per litre.
At Agbowo area of Iwo, the taskforce engaged the marketer of contentment investment petrol station to reduce the ₦1,100 price per litre to ₦1000 which he agreed to and changed his dispenser immediately.
Other petrol stations, including Anu Olu and Salinsile in Odo Ori, Ola Global, and N. Emiloju at Aladie were out of stocks.
The Taskforce, however, warned the manager of AP Filling Station at Roundabout, Ọja Ọba Iwo for selling petrol at ₦900 per litre as against the official pump price of ₦625 per litre.
Residents of Iwo who expressed anger at the act of wickedness said it was only AP Filling Station located along Iwo/Ibadan road in Odo Ori that sells the product at ₦625/litre since the current fuel scarcity begins. They called on other petroleum marketers in Iwo to emulate the marketer of AP Filling Station in Odo Ori, Alhaji Nurudeen Emiloju, who they described as a friend of the masses.
